The collection contains letters, telegrams, and other papers pertaining to railroad transport between the Confederate States during the Civil War. The correspondence is mostly between various officers in the C.S.A. Quartermaster's or Adjutant General's offices and officials of the different railroad companies, including Maj. F.W. Sims of the Railroad Bureau and Acting Adjutant General William M. Wadley. Included are many manuscript telegrams containing orders and information about the transport of troops, stores, and supplies; among them are telegrams relating to the movement of Gen. Longstreet's troops to Georgia. There is a also a memo of a proposed agreement between the C.S.A. and the southern railroad companies.
